Summer Camp Merit Badge Selection

Please select one merit badge during each time block. (See notes regarding classes that meet in multiple time blocks.)

New scouts should select PATH, the program for first-year scouts, in each segment. (See the Leader Guide for more information on PATH.) Those who are not first-year scouts but are first-time summer campers should consult the PATH schedule and select those segments that they need for advancement, then may choose merit badges during the other segments.

Keep in mind that to complete a merit badge, a scout must attend class each day (typically Monday through Friday) and complete the pre-requisites shown in the Leader's Guide. Scouts who do not complete the pre-requisites will receive a Partial. Experience tells us that very few scouts (fewer than 5 percent) who earn a Partial at summer camp ever go on to complete the merit badge, so it is in a scout's best interest to complete the pre-requisites prior to summer camp. If you need assistance, talk to the Scoutmaster or an Assistant Scoutmaster.

Badges shown in red are Eagle-required.

  1. Lifesaving is a two-hour class. Scouts must sign up for two blocks: 9:00-10:00 and 10:00-11:00, or 1:30-2:30 and 2:30-3:30
  2. Shotgun Shooting meets 9:00-11:00 Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Scouts must attend all three days. Be sure to select Shotgun Shooting in both 9AM and 10AM blocks.
  3. Rifle Shooting meets Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Scouts must attend all three days.
  4. Cooking meets 12:15 - 2:30 Monday thru Friday. This includes the lunch period. Those taking Cooking should arrange with their tablemates so they serve as Host and Assistant Host at meals other than lunch.
  5. Scouts wishing to complete the Mile Swim should keep the 3:30 PM block free of Merit Badges. There will be required sessions each day at 3:30.
